HOW TO PRICE AND PREPARE YOUR ITEMS FOR DROP OFF

Please read this page very carefully. We will have a lot of items to check in at drop off, so please have your items prepared properly to make it go as smoothly and quickly as possible.  We cannot accept or sell items that are not properly prepared or tagged.  For the safety of all shoppers and their little ones, please check recall lists prior to bringing your items.

PRICING: You, as the consignor, price your own items.  A good rule of thumb is to price items at 25-50% of their original retail value.  Ask yourself what price would you pay for the item?  Chances are it will be a good indicator of what someone else will pay.  We would much rather send you a large check than have you pick up piles of unsold items, so price to sell!  The minimum price is $1.00 and prices must be in $0.50 increments.  You can bundle items such as onesies, socks, tights, or hair accessories to reach the $1.00 minimum.  You can put items together to sell as a package.  For example, you can package a shirt, tights, skirt, and hair bows together to sell as an outfit or sandbox toys together with a sandbox.  When entering items into the inventory system, you can choose whether or not you would like that item to be 1/2 price on the last day of the sale.  We strongly encourage you to consider discounting your items.  Generally, items that have not sold for the full price will not sell on the second day if it is not discounted.  A general pricing guideline can be viewed by clicking HERE.

**For larger items that are priced $50 and over intially, you can sell them for less but not as much as 1/2 off on the last day.  For example, if you have a crib initially priced at $60, you can reduce the price to $50 on the last day.  To do this, DO NOT mark the tag yes for discounting, rather create 2 tags.  One with the initial price and one with the reduced price.  Attach both tags to the item. Request to have these items marked with the correct days at drop off.

TAGS: You can print barcoded price tags from your home computer using our on-line inventory system. The system will print 6 tags per page.  ALL tags must be printed on CARDSTOCK only, preferably white.  Regular copy paper rips too easily and does not scan as well.  We cannot sell items with missing or partial tags and it is difficult to return unsold items to the correct consignor without a tag. Please use a higher resolution when printing your tags and make sure your toner is not running low.  The bar code scanners do not read low resolution printing or faded tags well.  If you make a mistake, do not cross out or write information on the tag.  Just edit the information in the inventory system and print a new tag.  When using packing tape to attach tags, please DO NOT cover the bar code with the tape as it does not scan as well.

HOW TO TAG AND PREPARE ITEMS FOR DROP OFF

Clothing:  All items must be freshly laudered (pressed if necessary), and hung up on plastic hangers.  (Wire hangers get easily tangled and will be turned away at drop off) You can purchase child size hangers cheaply at Walmart and Target (a ten pack for about $1.00). You can also use plastic hangers from stores (ie. Old Navy, etc). The hanger should be facing left like a question mark.  Tags need to be attached with SAFETY pins (not stapled, taped or straight pins- ow!) to the top right side of the item.  If you have access to a tagging gun, feel free to use it, but please make sure the tag is attached securely at a seam on the right side.  Outfits should be pinned together.  Pants, skirts and shorts can be pinned to hangers or hung from pant hangers.  Items need to be sorted by gender and size prior to drop off.  Smaller items such as socks, booties, onesies can be bundled together and placed in ziploc bags with tags attached with packaging tape. We will have a very limited number of hangers available for purchase at the sale for $0.25 each for those items that are not hung up.   Helpful tip- Hang up your clothing items and sort them by size/ gender first. Then enter them into the system.  The drop down lists for category and size will remain with your last entry until they are changed.  So, for example, you can go through and enter all your girls size 3T clothing without having to change the category or size between each item.  The tags will also print in the order entered so you can then print the tags and go backwards through the pile you just entered to put the tags on.

Toys: All parts must be present and working batteries are required as necessary.  Boxes should be taped shut and small parts can be placed in ziploc bags and taped to larger pieces with PACKAGING TAPE.  Tags can be attached using packaging tape or string where appropriate.   Please check recall lists prior to bringing your items.

Shoes: Lace shoes can be tied together.  Shoes without laces can be pinned, tied together with string or placed in a ziploc bag.  Use string or packaging tape to attach the tag.

Baby equipment and furniture:  All pieces MUST be present.  Owners manuals can be placed in ziploc bags and attached with packaging tape.  Tags can be attached with packaging tape.  Please check recall lists prior to bringing your items.

Another helpful tip- Presentation is HUGE!  Make sure your items are CLEAN and WORKING.  Some consignors have added full-size sheets printed from the web or elsewhere listing key features or directions of items and attached it in a sheet protector.  This is especially helpful for big ticket items.  Also noting the original purchase price is helpful for bigger ticket items.
